Temporary

As an artist, I know how important it is to create art that is crafted to last forever. However, I know this is actually unrealistic (to some degree). This summer, I created a series of temporary works that were made strictly for discovery and documentation. By choosing not to glue the various objects together, I am able to constantly reuse my objects/resin letters- thus generating more content and introducing my first real series of works. I think temporary sculptures could become a new sub genre within sculpture, and could be especially popular for editorial publications (web and print).

This series, entitled “Temporary,” is a collection of nonpermanent sculptures, made of resin, wood, and found objects. All of the works included are strongly based on the idea of adding real life objects to an unrealistic and unexpected situation in order to communicate a new idea/aesthetic. This series is characterized by fully saturated and contrasting colors, a strong focus on the use of nontraditional materials, and unique and personal interpretations of various quotes, song lyrics, and inspirational messages.

I enjoy making works for this series as I feel there are many variations that I can create.
